After graduating from Utrecht University with a BA in Language and Culture and an MA in Philosophy, I set up as an independent language professional. I wrote reviews for two Dutch newspapers (de Volkskrant and Trouw) and for Filosofie Magazine, and I worked in a bookshop too. Before long, proofreading and editing jobs landed on my desk and I realised that I wasn’t just a good writer, but also a good translator.

As an independent professional freelance translator, editor and copywriter with more than twenty years’ experience, I've written and translated for clients across many sectors – from children's books to sportswear. I follow developments in my field and keep abreast by attending lectures, webinars and workshops organised by professional bodies such as the Dutch Society of Interpreters and Translators (NGTV) and the Dutch Association for Writers, Translators and Journalists (LIRA).
